Barcelona ‘prefer Marcus Rashford to Roberto Firmino as they draw up four-man shortlist to replace Luis Suarez’ – with Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane also in the frame
Barcelona have reportedly drawn up a four-man wishlist as they look to replace Luis Suarez.
Suarez, who turns 33 in January, looks set to leave the Nou Camp next summer and Barcelona chiefs want a marquee name to fill the void left by the former Liverpool striker.
The shortlist is made up of some of Europe’s best forwards as the Catalan giants look to add to their stunning frontline of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele.
Barcelona have reportedly drawn up a four-man wishlist as they look to replace Luis Suarez
According to Mundo Deportivo, Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford and Lautaro Martinez are all targets for the La Liga giants but Liverpool star Roberto Firmino isn’t being considered.
What all four men have in common is that they still have plenty of years ahead of them to lead the line while Firmino is just four years behind Suarez in age.
Mbappe appears to top the list to replace the Uruguayan but Barcelona know they will have to part with a serious amount of cash to bring in the Frenchman.

Barcelona have to pay £100m premium if they are to buy another Liverpool player before 2020
The Spanish champions will also have to pay Kane and Rashford out of their huge contracts at Tottenham and Manchester United if they wanted to bring either of the England duo to La Liga.
Rashford committed himself to the Red Devils earlier this summer with a four-year deal worth £200,000 a week, but the 21-year-old’s potential is ‘more convincing’ compared to what Firmino may offer currently for club and country.
Another factor that will have also deterred Barca from making a move for Firmino is the clause added into Philippe Coutinho’s contract following his £145million move to the Nou Camp in 2018.

A cheaper alternative would be Inter Milan and Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez
Following the big-money switch, Liverpool managed to negotiate a clause into the transfer that requires the Catalans to pay a £100m premium if they want to sign anyone else from Anfield before 2020.
A cheaper alternative would be Inter Milan’s Martinez, who has scored six goals in his first 10 games of the season.
Whoever comes in to replace Suarez will have big boots to fill considering his impressive record at the club.
In 255 appearances for Barcelona, Suarez has contributed 183 goals and 96 assists, further establishing himself as one of the world’s best strikers.
