Juventus ‘set sights on Sandro Tonali and Houssem Aouar’ as they look to youngsters to strengthen their midfield instead of Paul Pogba return
Juventus have reportedly set their sights on two young starlets to strengthen their midfield instead of a move to bring back Paul Pogba.
The Serie A champions have been highly linked with bringing the Frenchman back to Turin, after he left to rejoin Manchester United back in 2016.
However Tuttosport have reported that the Italian club could look to bring highly rated youngsters Sandro Tonali and Houssem Aouar as midfield alternatives.
Sandro Tonali who has been dubbed as the ‘new Andrea Pirlo’ has been linked with a big move
Juventus have also been linked with the signing of French midfielder Houssem Aouar
Tonali, whose ability as a defensive midfielder has already seen him likened to Azzurri legend Andrea Pirlo, has had a breakout season at Brescia and has already made the Italian national squad.
At the age of 19, Tonali spent the last two seasons playing for the B team before moving into the senior team this year.
So far this season he has scored one goal in 20 appearances and has also previously been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Paul Pogba has previously been linked with a move back to Juventus who he left back in 2016
Tuttosport reported that Tonali has more ‘physique and dynamism’ than Pirlo but not yet the same ‘technique or vision’.
Meanwhile Aouar has been a bright spark during an inconsistent season for Ligue 1 side Lyon.
So far this season he has contributed nine goals and seven assists and like Tonali has been linked to host of top clubs.
He would also be seen as a cheaper alternative to Pogba and is currently reported to be valued at £45m.
Should Juventus move for the pair, it would potentially mean Pogba could remain at Old Trafford, though he has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Pogba played for the Serie A side between 2012 and 2016, scoring 34 goals in 178 appearances.
