‘We hope the deal can be finalised as soon as possible’: Inter Milan chief insists they are close to completing £17m signing of Tottenham star Christian Eriksen
Inter Milan are closing in on agreeing a deal to sign Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen, according to CEO Beppe Marrota.
But he suggests that Spurs have been playing hardball over the Danish international, who is available for a cut price £17m with his contract up on June 30.
‘We won’t hide, you all know we’ve been negotiating with Tottenham for some time. His contract is due to expire on June 30, so the only rights we are discussing are for those six months,’ he told DAZN.

‘We are optimistic and hope the deal can be finalised as soon as possible, especially as the transfer window closes on Friday.’
Eriksen’s imminent departure appeared to be confirmed on Saturday when he travelled but was left out of Spurs’ FA Cup squad to face Southampton.
He would be the third player to leave the Premier League to sign for Inter during this January transfer window.
Antonio Conte has also brought in Victor Moses as part of his recruitment drive this month
This follows the arrivals of Ashley Young from Manchester United and Victor Moses on loan from Chelsea.
Eriksen has made 27 appearances for Spurs so far this season but has scored only three times during a turbulent campaign for the Champions League finalists.
BBC Sport reported on Saturday that an outline agreement is in place to be finalised on Monday.
