Arsenal’s transfer plans have been deal a major blow with Lyon reportedly in the advanced stages of signing one of their prime targets Bruno Guimaraes.
The Ligue 1 side have struck a £21million agreement with Athletico Paranaense to sign the midfielder this month, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
Guimaraes, who has been capped by Brazil at Under-23 level, will now discuss personal terms with Lyon, but admitted he is leaving the details down to his agent.
Lyon have reportedly agreed a £21m fee to sign Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes
With his future up in the air, the 22-year-old told SporTV on Wednesday: ‘What I asked my agents was that the transfer is good for me and for Athletico Paranaense. I know that clubs are in talks, it’s difficult to choose. They are all great teams.’
The Brazilian had been identified by Arsenal as a target last year after some strong showings for Athletico Paranaense, but they now seem set to miss out on him.
Arsenal can still make a last-minute attempt to sign Guimaraes, but it remains to be seen whether or not they will try to do that.
Another player that Arsenal are working on to bring to the club this month is Layvin Kurzawa.
The defender is available to sign and Paris Saint-Germain have outlined their conditions to Arsenal, demanding at least £4.2m for his services.
